Byrd Cara Cara 2 FRN Black Emerson Opener, Plain Inspired by the iconic Endura knife, an ultralight version with an Emerson Wave hook for users who are looking for a maximum performance knife at an affordable price. Thanks to its small size, it makes an excellent choice for an everyday EDC knife.

With improvements in manufacturing processes and the availability of new materials, Byrd folders, like Spyderco knives, are subject to C.Q.I. (Constant Quality Improvement). Available with FRN liners with bi-directional texture, Emerson Opener hook, improved ergonomics, 4-way clip and fully flat full-flat blade.

The Emerson Opener (Emerson Wave) located on the back of the blade, Ernest Emerson's patented integral hook allows the blade to be opened very quickly when removing the knife from a pants pocket by hooking the hook over the edge of the pocket. Thanks to Wave, any folder equipped with this solution is the fastest knife in the world when it comes to opening speed. It's also faster than an automatic knife, as it's ready to use once you grab it.

8Cr13MoV - an easy-to-sharpen stainless knife steel, equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel. A high content of 13.0% chromium (Cr) and an average of 0.8% carbon (C) provide excellent corrosion resistance, while the addition of the alloying elements molybdenum 0.30% (Mo), vanadium 0.25% (V) and nickel 0.20% (Ni) increase the steel's strength and wear resistance. 8Cr13MoV has a high hardness in the 57-62 HRC range.

Blade - Drop Point type satin-coated blade provides excellent low-friction cutting edge geometry. Plain blade was derived with Full Flat Grind reducing the weight of the knife. A notched section of the blade's back, the ramp positions the thumb and gives solid support, while an arched index finger undercut between the handle and the cutting edge (finger choil jimping) makes it easier to operate the folder. At the end of the ramp is the Emerson Opener. Comet-shaped cutout (Spyderco patent) for quick opening of the blade. Back-Lock blade lock with protection against accidental release of the lock during a firm grip (notch in the lock).

Skeleton - reinforced with stainless steel plates to which the liners are attached, ensures the strength of the structure. Phosphor bronze washers ensure trouble-free smooth opening and closing of knife.

Handle - non-slip Bi-Directional Textured (Bi-Directional Texturing) facings strengthen the grip even with wet hands. Covers in black in FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. Sturdy metal clip with four-way (up/down, right/left) four-way clip positions. Spine Jimping notches on the back of the handle increase comfort and grip security. A hole (lanyard hole) allows attachment of a safety line.
