Reate is a brand synonymous with constructing and manufacturing high quality knives. Its founder, David Deng, has been a knife enthusiast for a long time, with a background in mechanical design and manufacturing, constantly striving for excellence in all knife designs produced by Reate. Precision EDM wire cutting, high-speed CNC engraving, laser engraving, milling operations, CNC grinding, low-temperature tempering ovens, custom hand finishing, to name just a few of the professional tools they use in the manufacturing process. High-quality blade steel and production materials are purchased directly from the USA, Germany and Japan. Common steels used in our manufacturing process are: Bohler M390, S35VN, S30V, S90V, VG10, RWL34 and Damascus. Handle materials we use include: 6AL4V titanium, carbon fibre, G10, copper, aluminium, wood, as well as natural materials.
Karambit - a type of knife that originated in Indonesia, with roots in Malaysia and the Philippines. It is characterised by a finger ring and a sickle-shaped blade, which has great cutting efficiency. The Hawkbill mimics the way an eagle's claw or a tiger's claw rips through, piercing and cutting simultaneously. Used as a working knife and for defence.
N690 - cobalt-rich 1.65% (Co) corrosion-resistant, high-carbon 1.07% (C), martensitic chromium steel 17.30% (Cr) with molybdenum 1.10% (Mo), vanadium 0.10% (V). Developed to provide better wear resistance compared to the original Böhler N690 steel, but with a higher cobalt (Co) content in its composition. It is characterised by extremely high corrosion resistance and long edge retention. One of the best tool steels in the world today. Hardened to between 58 and 61 HRC. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) - the resistance of the surface of the wedge and cutting edge is enhanced by a vacuum deposition method used to deposit thin films by condensing an evaporated form of the desired material onto the surface of the workpiece. The coating method involves a purely physical process such as high-temperature vacuum evaporation followed by condensation. The applied coating has a very high hardness which significantly increases the resistance of the blade to rust and abrasive wear.
Blade - Hawkbill type, coated with a scratch-masking black PVD coating. The Plain blade allows efficient cutting with the entire cutting surface as well as with the ultra-thin tip. the high, flat grind (Flat Grind) gives a perfect cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. The opening is both simple and impressive, release the lock, slight swing to one side, the blade unfolds, slight swing to the other, the lock stops it in the open position. A reliable and proven button lock is used here.
Handle - non-slip textured grips for better grip made of aluminum. Chamfered edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges and textured surface improves grip confidence. Fore Finger Groove, a deep cut under the index finger and a finger ring back ring / tail ring / pommel ring prevent the knife from slipping when the going gets tough. If you don't want to use the ring, you can simply unscrew it. A novel solution is the possibility of moving the lock button to the other side, so we really get a knife for right and left-handers. A two-position (right/left) clip allows you to carry the knife in tip-up position.
Accessories - A blue training knife with a blade without a cutting edge is added to the knife. Before playing tricks with opening the real blade, you can practice this "dry" with the trainer.
