- Banter 2 Green Canvas Micarta, Grey Stonewashed, a design by traveler and knifemaker Ben Petersen. The second generation of this popular model features a Micarta composite Handle, crossbar lock while retaining all the advantages of its predecessor.
Banter 2 Green Canvas Micarta, Grey Stonewashed is a unique design by renowned traveler and knifemaker Ben Petersen. The second generation of this popular model is distinguished by a precision-crafted Micarta composite handle, which provides excellent strength and lightness, and fits perfectly in the hand, offering a secure grip even in difficult conditions. The blade, made of high-quality CPM S35VN steel , is characterized by a hardness of 59-61 HRC, which guarantees long sharpness retention. The crossbar lock, used on this model, offers reliability and safety in use, and ceramic ball bearings on the pivot ensure smooth opening and closing of the knife. The whole thing weighs just 72.8 grams, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a lightweight yet durable tool. The Banter 2 is an excellent choice for any knife lover, combining functionality, aesthetics and top-notch workmanship
Ben Petersen came into contact with the knife industry in 2011, supplementing his college education with a casual job making YouTube videos. The vortex of the knife world drew him in and he spent the next eight years working full-time in the industry at a knife retailer and manufacturer. He dealt with thousands of knives, recording more than 1,000 knife videos and producing knife marketing content for the entire industry. During his travels, Ben developed a particular preference for knives, such as blades under 3 inches and a fondness for blue Handle grips in simple designs. After years of advertising other people's knives, Ben created his first EC design called “Banter.” It is a thoughtful combination of all the features Ben loves in knives. When he's not working on knives, Ben spends most of his time backpacking, biking and exploring his home state of Utah with his wife and four children. And like him, they all like knives, too.
CPM S35VN - an American martensitic stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best blade steels. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries according to the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while maintaining corrosion resistance at the highest level. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it consists of 0.5% niobium carbides along with 3.0% vanadium and 14.0% chromium carbides . Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes it about 15-20% harder than S30V without losing wear resistance. It is also easier to machine and polish. The improved CPM strength of S35VN provides better resistance to edge chipping. The CPM process yields a very uniform, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods.
Crossbar Lock - acrossbar that moves horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing its return movement. This beam is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking is done by pulling back the locking bar, the ends of which are accessible through cutouts in the grips on the sides of the Handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the Blade, preventing it from opening on its own. Advantages of the Crossbar Lock include resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of operation with both right and left hands, and lightweight operation.
Blade - Drop Point with a clearly marked belly finished with a scratch-masking bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles . The small thickness of the blade combined with a high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ball bearing ceramic retainers promote smooth and smooth operation of the blade's ejection mechanism, which can be opened with the thumb using Thumb Studs on both sides . Liner-Lock mechanism . Upper jumping, notched thumb rest on the back of the blade for better control.
Handle - made of Canvas Micarta composite , practically indestructible plastic insensitive to weather, resistant to chemicals and mechanical damage. Chamfered edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges and characteristic texturing of the surface improves grip security. The massive backspacer to which the grips are attached guarantees the rigidity and strength of the entire structure. The pivot is decorated with a stylized WE brand logo . The double-sided (right/left) metal deep-carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in tip-up (blade up) position. On the back of the Handle lanyard hole , a hole for a cord.
Case - the knife is packed in a zippered soft nylon case with the manufacturer's logo for safe storage and transportation of the folder.
