Carpenter® Technology' sMicro-Melt PD#1 is a weather-resistant cold-forming die steel specially formulated to provide both superior wear resistance and strength. The advanced alloy composition is further enhanced by the CarTech® Micro-Melt process, which provides a very fine, extremely uniform grain structure. Functionally equivalent to CPM® CRU-WEAR®
Blade - Leaf-Shaped (leaf shape), 2.5 mm thick. Coated with black non-reflective titanium vegloazotide (TiCN) coating. Plain blade is derived with a Full Flat Grind. The flat grind provides excellent cutting edge geometry with a sharp tip and has reduced the weight of the knife. The SpyderHole round cutout (Spyderco patent) allows the knife to be opened with the thumb. Solid Back-Lock with additional Boye Detent notch, preventing accidental release of the lock when the knife is gripped firmly. The notched thumb ramp and Finger Choil contoured index finger undercut between the Handle and the cutting edge make it easier to operate the knife.
Handle - made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. The bi-directional non-slip Bi-Directional Texturing of the grips provides excellent grip, even with wet hands. The notched ramp and the back of the Handle, known as Spine Jimping, increase grip security. A screw-on wire clip (left/right) allows you to carry the knife in tip-up position (with the tip of the blade upward). In the back of the Handle lanyard hole, a hole for a rope.
