Kestrel Black DLC Titanium/Timascus, Black DLC is an artfully designed folding knife that combines modern technology and remarkable aesthetics. CPM S35VN - American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best blade steels. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while keeping corrosion resistance at the highest level. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it is composed of 0.5% niobium carbides (Nb) along with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0% chromium (Cr) carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes the steel about 15-20% harder than S30V without sacrificing wear resistance, and it is also easier to machine and polish. The improved strength of CPM S35VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) durability of the blade surface is enhanced with a matte black nanocomposite coating that exhibits unique properties such as exceptional hardness and low friction, as well as excellent corrosion protection. It is one of the most resistant coatings to scratches and abrasion that are used in the industry, including the knife industry.

Blade - Sheepfoot type. Covered with a black DLC coating. The wide blade converges towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The small thickness of the blade, combined with a high concave grind (Hollow Grind), gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings are responsible for the smooth and smooth operation of the mechanism and support the opening of the blade with a quick flipper when opened acting as a crossguard. The knife can also be opened with a double-sided peg in the wedge. On the back of the upper jimping wedge, a notched thumb rest. The whole is locked with a modern Frame Lock with a steel inlay to prevent wiping of the lock face.

Handle - is a thick piece of titanium 6AL4V also covered with black DLC coating, contouring of the covers eliminates sharp edges. On both sides there is an inlay (insert) made of Timascus. Only a few companies are able to make the Handle with such incredible accuracy! The grips are joined together using a titanium backspacer. The right-side, single-position deep carry clip, also from Timascus, allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in tip-up (blade up) position. The pivot axis is decorated with a titanium rim (pivot collar cap).
