- 1851 Colt Navy Yank Civilian .44 symbol of the Wild West. The scene of the victory of the Second Texas Navy at the Battle of Campeche on drum. A nickel-plated trigger guard, identical to that of the best Pietta Remington Shooter black powder revolver.
1851 Colt Navy Yank Civilian .44,Wild West symbol, Samuel Colt's favorite, percussion-loaded black powder percussion revolver. The drum cylinder is engraved with the scene of the Second Texas Navy's victory in the Battle of Campeche in 1843.
Nickel-plated fittings for the grip and, identical to the best Pietta Remington Shooter revolver, nickel-plated trigger guard emphasize the beauty of the weapon.
The revolver has a recess on the underside of the handle for mounting the optional # NSS44 (Navy Shoulder Stock) fixed wooden stock. The stock turns the revolver into a handy rifle.
Designed in 1847, it was entered into service with the US Army as the 1851 Navy model. Despite the name, the Colt Navy was supplied in larger quantities to equip the army than the navy. The revolver's reputation reached England, where in 1852 Samuel Colt built the only factory outside the United States. The revolvers produced at this factory were called Navy London.
Construction - fire-hardened: steel frame with an open skeleton and a pole. Black oxide engraved 6-chamber drum and a 7.37”octagonal barrel (thread pitch 1-30"). Sights, fixed brass front sight.
Linings - walnut wood grip, facilitate a firm grip of the weapon. Oiling enhances the color of the wood, emphasizes the grain, and maintains its natural appearance. The oil penetrates deep into the wood without clogging the pores, allowing the wood to breathe.
Subclavian - lever (stamp), hinged under the barrel of the revolver. Designed to press the lead balls in the drum chambers.
