MAM Filmam are one of the oldest (from 1870) knives producers. Knives with a 150-year tradition, famous around the world, called by users: Palacoula, also known as Operario. During the production of one pocket knife, 55 operations are performed. Hand sharpened. Official supplier to the Portuguese Maritime School. Made in Portugal.
All blades of MAM Filmam knives are made of high-quality AISI 420 stainless steel from German Thyssen-Krupp steel mills which is treated and hardened as for VG-10 steel, thus achieving the use of the maximum capabilities of 420 steel. Additions of molybdenum, vanadium, silicon and carbon make the steel hardenable up to 57 HRC, and provide strength, toughness, machinability and excellent corrosion resistance. The high carbon content produces chromium carbide compounds, providing wear resistance and holding the sharpness of the cutting edge after hardening. Special machines are used for machining, regularly tested by the company's technicians

Blade - about Drop Point profile, 1.4 mm thickness. Made of high quality German (ThyssenKrupp) AISI 420 stainless steel. Smooth blade (Plain type) was made with a full flat cut (full flat grind), which combined with a slight thickness of the blade provides above-average cutting properties. Knife opened with an incision on the blade, called: nail nick.
Handle - made of one piece of varnished color, durable, light beech wood on both sides ended with reinforcing rings. The profiled grip does not cause fatigue even during long-term use. On one of the sides of the handle, the manufacturer's logo is burned. The grip of the handle is subjected to a fourfold impregnation process, thanks to which it is resistant to moisture and water, both sweet and sea salt.
