Amphibian Ram-Lok P/S Fluted Olive Drab G-10, Stonewashed P/S reissue of the iconic Amphibian model, combining strength, durability and elegance. Its blade is made of excellent M390MK steel, which is the result of a collaboration between two renowned companies - Microtech and Böhler. This steel is known for its exceptional strength and long sharpness retention, making this knife unafraid of any challenge. The intuitive RAM-Lock lock ensures safety during use. This innovative lock is easy to operate and provides ease of use for both right and left-handed people. The Handle of the knife is made of G10 composite, durable and ergonomic. Its shape is designed to fit perfectly in the hand, ensuring comfort even during prolonged use. This knife is not only a tool, but also a work of applied art. Its designer, Anthony Marfione, founder and owner of Microtech, has taken care of every detail. This knife is both beautiful and practical. Whether you are looking for a reliable tool or an elegant accessory, this knife will meet your expectations.
M390MK - thanks to a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers, an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech was created. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened to 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Ram-Lock (Crossbar Lock) - a crossbar that moves horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing its return movement. This beam is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking is done by pulling back the locking bar, the ends of which are accessible through cutouts in the grips on the sides of the Handle grips. In the locked position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the rear of the blade, preventing it from opening on its own. Advantages of the Ram-Lock include resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of operation with both right and left hands, and lightweight operation.
Blade - machine-ground Drop Point type, single-sided sharpened S/E (Single Edge), partially serrated P/S (Partial Serrated). Finished with a scratch-masking bath of fine Stonewashed pebbles. It is opened with a teardrop-shaped dual thumb stud in the wedge, characteristic of this model, so it can be used easily by both right and left-handed people. Ball bearings are responsible for the smooth operation of the opening mechanism. The blade was derived with a high flat grind (Flat Grind), giving excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. To maintain full control of the blade on the back of the wedge was made upper jimping, notched thumb rest. The entire blade is locked with a convenient Ram-Lock.
Handle - made of durable G10 composite, covered with milled lines (Fluted) for better grip. Wide locking slide with Microtech's characteristic stepped X structure. Both grips have been screwed together with a solid backspacer. A double-sided (right / left) titanium clip allows you to discreetly carry the knife in tip-up position. Above the clip a lanyard hole, a place for a safety or decorative cord.
