With more than 150 years of company history, C. Jul. Herbertz can look back on a long tradition in the manufacture and sale of knives and blades. In 1868, Carl Julius Herbertz founded the company in Solingen, a basin of knife makers, which now enjoys an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of Germany. The company has been run as a family business for five generations. Long-time owner Ulrich Hartkopf's great-grandfather was a blade grinder, his great-great-grandfather was a knife manufacturer, other ancestors up to his grandfather and father were involved in the knife trade.
