1858 Remington New Texas Buffalo .44, 6-shot percussion black powder, front-loading revolver with closed brass frame and 12"barrel.

Remington 1858 was the first revolver produced from the so-called closed skeleton. The barrel is screwed into the frame. The weapon had the ability to replace the empty drum with a new one loaded. Cylindrical drum with rectangular cutouts for a drum latch.

Construction - brass skeleton, polished brass skeleton finish. Walnut wood shank covers. Brass trigger guard.

The trigger tensioning mechanism allows two positions: half tense, designed to put the hoods on fireplaces, and tense to fire.

The revolver is equipped with a lever cartridge (stamp) hinged under the barrel of the weapon. Pobojczyk is designed for pressing lead balls in the chambers of the drum.

The Remington Model 1858 was the favorite weapon of William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody. A specimen of this weapon belonging to Will is on display at the Remington Arms Company, along with a handwritten note from him that reads: “This old Remington revolver I have worn and used for many years, in Indian wars and for killing buffaloes. And he never let me down. “It's worth noting that the Bufallo Bill was so attached to his weapon that he used it even after the advent of more modern cassette revolvers. The source of this attachment can be seen in the high accuracy and refuting power of this revolver. Missiles fired from Remington 1858 were capable, depending on the quantity and quality of gunpowder used, to achieve significant muzzle velocities, from 168 to 393 or more meters per second. For comparison, the initial velocity of the projectile fired from the P-64 pistol is 305 meters per second.

For 50 years, Pietta Fierarms has been producing replicas of 19th century revolvers. Thanks to the work of skilled Italian craftsmen, it is possible to have weapons that appeared in such Hollywood productions as: The Way of the Giants, The Incredible Horseman, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, and Gone with the Wind. The manufacture of the weapon cannot be faulted, the elements fit together perfectly, nothing claps, there are no unnecessary slack and gaps. On the Internet you can find information that the replicas made by Pietta Firearms have an enlarged handle compared to the original Remington. This is due to the adaptation of the weapon to the size of the hands of modern users.
